The Product check is a special type of product finder for your product detail page (PDP). In a Product check you provide specific advice about the product your customer is viewing. You confirm that this is indeed the right choice, or you point out a more suitable product.

In other words:

  • With a Product finder you answer the question β€œWhich product suits me?”

  • With a Product check you answer the question β€œDoes this product suit me?”

This is what the advice in a product finder looks like:

The advice in a product check looks like this if the product is the right choice.

The advice in a product check looks like this if the product is the wrong choice.

The advice of the product check is specific to the product the customer is viewing on the product detail page, and may provide alternative products that might be better options for the customer.

In this product update you can read more about the Product check.

Good to know

A product check is a different representation of the advice page of your product finder and uses the exact same questions, answers, matching and other settings. You can use the same app as both a product finder and product check simultaneously across different pages. No need to duplicate your app!

1. Activate the Product check

To use the Product finder as a Product check, go to Matching > Settings > Product check and turn on the toggle.

2. Set the advice page content

A Product check has a different advice page than a Product finder. The Product check shows the product the customer is viewing on the product detail page and indicates whether the product is a good or bad choice for them. Alternative products will be shown below the product if available. You enter the content for the Product check advice page here.

  1. Under "The product is the right choice" enter the text that will be show at the top of the page if the product in question is the right choice for your customer. Then, fill in the fields for the labels for the product in question and the first alternative. For example "Perfect for you" and "Good alternative".

  2. Under "The product is the wrong choice" enter the text that will be show at the top of the page if the product in question is the wrong choice for your customer. Then, fill in the fields for the labels for the product in question and the first alternative. For example "Not right for you" and "The best for you".

There is also a scenario where there are no alternatives available and the product in question is the wrong choice. Under "The product is the wrong choice and no alternatives are available" enter the text which will be shown at the top of the page above the product which is not recommended. Here you can direct the customer to your customer service or other resources for further assistance.

The number of alternatives shown is equal to the Number of advised products setting in the Result settings.

When is a product presented as the right or wrong choice?

The product is presented as the right choice when at least 80% of the answered questions have a 'neutral', 'good' or 'perfect' matching for the product and the product isn't filtered out by a filter question. In all other cases, the product is presented as the wrong choice. How a specific product is advised for a specific combination of answers can be inspected at Test & Tweak.

The product check in Analytics and Integrations

The product check sends the same events as de product finder to CDP integrations or Google Analytics. Recommended alternatives are always send in the "advised" events. The product in question in the check is only included in the "advised" event if it is "the right choice" for the customers. If the product in the check is "the wrong choice" it wont be included in analytic events.

Placing the product check on the PDP

You can place the product check in different ways on your PDP, as a button or a banner with a CTA for example. In Aiden you'll find the embed code for a button which you can place together with the other content you'd like to contextualize the button with.

Important to know when placing the product check

  • The product check is intended for use on the product detail page and will function like regular product finder on other pages.

  • Aiden uses the URL of the product detail page to identify the product in the app's catalogue and display it. If no product can be found in the app's catalogue the app will also function as a regular product finder.

The product check embed code

You can find your app specific embed code in Aiden.

  1. Go to Embed in your app and follow the steps.

  2. Select "Product detail page (PDP" when asked "Where would you like to place your app?"

  3. Decide if you want a sidebar or pop-up product check. We recommend the sidebar!

  4. Copy the embed code en place this in the desired location in your webshop. Depending on your webshop system this is done through your CMS, Google Tag Manager or a web developer.

Important for developers

<button data-advisor-id="<your advisor ID>"
data-product-check=""
data-aiden-mode="sidebar">
In doubt? Do the check
</button>

The product check embed code is similar to that of a regular product finder. The data-product-check="" attribute is what turns a product finder into a product check.

Placement examples

We recommend to place product check in a location where the customer who is in doubt can easily find it. For example:

As a button below the add-to-cart button.

As a banner with some explanation for context below the product images.
